Axley, baby

Hi, I am Teun! I’m an artist, I create and release my own music under the name Axley. Like many artists nowadays I create music from top to bottom, meaning that I write, sing, produce, mix & master songs by myself, which I currently do from my home studio in the south of the Netherlands.

Why the name Axley? The name Axley refers to my favorite bands’ songwriter and pianist, Keane’s Tim Rice-Oxley, my hometown Asten, my nickname “Eggsy” and a book my uncle wrote: “Retour Baxley”. But references aside - the name Axley just sounds and feel right! It also helps that the name Axley wasn’t taken by any musicians online ;)

I spend my time making a lot of music and I try to release it in a (somewhat) thoughtful and interconnected way. I want to release a lot of music I make and let it speak for itself, which also creates the challenge (or how I see it: opportunity) to create coherence and frameworks in which I present that music. This means that I will make and release music in many different ways whilst balancing coherence and diversity in sounds, visuals, stories, merchandise, you name it.

I believe that art can have great impact for the betterment of people’s lives, and it would be a shame if we’re missing out on so many life-changing works of art simply because the artists who would bring it into life are hurdled by the system that they’d have to go through.
